Some clients cannot make the drive. A business owner who cannot leave the floor during trading hours. Someone recovering from surgery. A family handling an estate where the person who owns the coins is not able to travel. Occasionally somebody who simply does not want to carry a large amount of cash through a parking garage, which is a reasonable position.

For trades that qualify, two members of staff come to you, the trade happens where you are, and it settles on the spot. The rate and the fee are agreed before anyone gets in a car.

Courier visits run out of both stores, which covers the Bay Area, the Peninsula, the South Bay and the Central Valley along the CA-99 and I-5 corridors. Further afield is a conversation, not a no.

Whether a specific trade qualifies comes down to three things: the amount, the location, and the notice you can give us. Same-day is sometimes possible; a day or two of notice makes it straightforward. Rather than publish a threshold that would be wrong half the time, call the desk and describe the trade. We will tell you plainly whether it is something we can do and when.

Meetings happen at a business address, a home, or a professional's office. We do not do parking lots, and we do not meet at a location a third party has chosen for you.

• Booked in advance, with a quote. The amount, the rate and the fee are agreed before the visit, not negotiated at your door.
• Two staff, identified. You know who is coming, and they carry company identification.
• ID and paperwork as at the counter. Same checks, same receipt. A courier trade is a store trade that happens at your address.
• Settled before we leave. The coins move and you confirm they landed, or the cash is counted and in your hands, while we are still there.

If anything about the arrangement does not look right to us on the day, we will pause and ask questions. That is the point of sending people rather than a machine.
