Buy Bitcoin in the East Bay, Without the Kiosk Markup
Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Union City, Fremont, Newark, Milpitas and the Tri-Valley all share the same problem: plenty of Bitcoin ATMs, no staffed counter. The fix is one run down the Nimitz — our San Jose store sits at the bottom of I-880, with the rate locked before you hand over a dollar.
Drive times down the corridor
Every East Bay city below funnels to the same place: The Bitcoin Store San Jose, 28 N Almaden Ave Suite 50, in downtown San Jose off CA-87. Walk-ins welcome Monday–Friday, 11 am – 7 pm.

One counter instead of forty corner-store kiosks
The East Bay is thick with Bitcoin ATMs — gas stations in Hayward, liquor stores in Oakland, smoke shops along Mission Boulevard. What none of them offer is a person, a locked rate, or room to trade real size. Kiosk operators commonly price 8–20%+ above the market rate, and under California’s AB 39 a kiosk cannot take more than $1,000 from you in a day. On a $5,000 buy, that is five separate days of feeding a machine at a steep markup.
At the counter, the trade works the way a trade should: you see the live market quote, approve it, and the rate is locked while you pay. Cash trades run to $50,000 per day, ID-verified, with a receipt from a FinCEN-registered business. The math on the drive is simple — the difference between kiosk pricing and a locked rate on even a mid-sized buy covers the bridge-to-San-Jose gas many times over. See the numbers side by side on the Bitcoin ATM alternative page.
Selling from the East Bay
Cashing out is where the East Bay’s kiosks really fall down — most machines are buy-only, and the few that dispense cash do it in small, expensive bites. At our counter you can sell Bitcoin for cash the same visit, up to $50,000 a day at a locked rate. Six-figure positions settle by same-day bank wire through the OTC desk — many Oakland and Tri-Valley customers book the desk and skip carrying cash entirely.
