Sacramento’s Bitcoin Kiosks Are Vanishing. We’re Not.
The largest kiosk operator in the country filed Chapter 11 in May 2026, and the machines are coming off the walls from Elk Grove to Roseville — the US kiosk count fell by roughly a third in the first half of 2026. The demand didn’t disappear. The nearest staffed counter is our Stockton store, under an hour down the corridor.
What replaced the machine: a counter
A kiosk was always a bad deal dressed up as convenience — commonly 8–20%+ over the market rate, capped at $1,000 a day under California’s AB 39, and no one to call when it eats your cash. A staffed counter is the opposite trade: the live market quote on screen, one trade fee shown before you pay, the rate locked when you approve it, ID verified, receipt printed. And because a counter is not a kiosk, the $1,000 cap does not apply — walk-ins trade up to $50,000 in cash per day. The whole story is on our Bitcoin Depot alternative page.
From the capital region to Hammer Lane
| Coming from | Route | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Elk Grove | I-5 or CA-99 South | 35–40 minutes |
| Sacramento | I-5 South | 45–55 minutes |
| Folsom | US-50 to CA-99 South | 55–60 minutes |
| Roseville | CA-65 to CA-99 South | 60–65 minutes |
The store is at 616 W Hammer Ln in north Stockton, just off the freeway — open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm, walk-ins welcome.
Worth the drive both ways
Capital-area customers make the trip for the two things no machine ever offered: real size and a real sell-side. Buying, the counter handles up to $50,000 in cash per day and the bank wire & OTC desk settles up to $100,000+ the same day. Cashing out, you leave with same-day cash for your Bitcoin at a rate locked before you confirm — BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE and other majors. First-timers get a free wallet setup at the counter, and hardware wallets are in stock.
